Anchors Away by Jeshurun Webb in Boston, Massachusetts

Name: Jeshurun Webb

Place you live: Boston, MA

Occupation: Graphic Designer, Writer, Illustrator

Preoccupation: I am an explorer at heart. If there’s a new neighborhood I haven’t walked through or interesting looking storefront I haven’t found time to wander into, I have to do it. I try every weekend to see something I’ve never seen before in my city.

A perfect day in Boston? The perfect day is sleeping in and walking to brunch. Then, spending the day browsing in one of the many old book stores or vintage stores and unearthing treasures. I love hanging out in coffee shops with nothing more than a pen and paper to design and draw and write and dream.

If someone was visiting, what must they do? I sometimes still feel like a visitor. We just moved here a little over a year ago. I would take lots of road trips. Half the fun of being in New England is being able to drive to Portland Maine or Newport Rhode Island in just a couple of hours. All the towns have completely different feelings and the views of the water are a must-see.

A perfect meal in Boston? My favorite meal can be found at Island Creek Oyster Bar. I work with restaurants a lot as a designer, so I’m obsessed with ICOB’s casual folded menus where they list the specific fisherman that pulled in those tasty oysters. What a thoughtful touch! The cocktail and food culture in Boston is amazing.

Tell us a locals only tip: One of my favorite things is getting lost in the Emerald Necklace, or many miles of parks that are strung together and full of trails. Frederick Olmstead developed here, too. So, if you love Central Park, this is the next best thing.

Where is your favorite place in the world? My favorite place in the world is anywhere where I’m moving: on a train, a plane, a ferry.
