I made this portrait of a friend sitting on his porch 3 houses down from me, we had the same old man for a landlord who has owned most of the houses on the street since the 70′s, and all the houses were old shotgun duplexes in serious disrepair. We all spent a lot of time hanging out on our front porches, especially in the summer when it was too hot inside.

Place you live: Atlanta, GA
Place your photo was taken: (should be where you live or within an hour car ride) Gaskill street in Cabbagetown, Atlanta
Can you sum up the place? Cabbagetown is an old mill town, that was comprised of a close knit group of poor Appalachian workers up until the mills closed in the late seventies. This caused the neighborhoods decline, and further isolation. Today Cabbagetown has a more diverse community, mostly due to young people and artists seeking cheap rent, but still retains its history.
A perfect day in Atlanta? When we have big backyard parties, or just hanging out with friends on the porch. We drink, laugh, kill time, sometimes you don’t need to go anywhere to have a good time.
If someone was visiting, what must they do? Apparently take their picture in the Krog tunnel… No seriously, hit up the Claremont Lounge on Ponce De Leon, you probably, at least, won’t forget it anytime soon.
A perfect meal in Atlanta? Home Grown on memorial drive is a super casual spot.

Yay ATL!
I really want to visit ATL! Sounds so fun.
