Central Basin by Jon Rendell in San Francisco, California

  • The Breath of the Moist Air is Light

San Francisco’s dry dock in Central Basin on one of the many foggy mornings where the sun struggles to shine through. I love the old pylons and the play of light upon the water.

I love the mood of this shot. Makes me yearn for an early morning on the coast.

  1. We agree Alisa, this photo sets a mood, and a good melancholy mood.

The contrast between the stark black pylons and the veil of fog evokes a feeling of stillness tinged with anticipation. I could look at this forever and never tire of it.

  3. Well said Heather…

I adore Jon’s work because his photographs are so sensitive. You’re not just invited to share the view within his view finder, he conveys his inner experience of the world as he captures the ephemeral and unsayable. Mind blowing! Thank you, Jon.
