Vancouver is a city of real contradictions, in terms of weather, geography and population. In summer when it gets hot, the beaches become really popular. This photo shows the tide currently out, leaving this water slide marooned on the beach until later in the day when the waters flood back in. Vancouver is still used heavily as a commercial harbour, which can be seen from the large tankers anchored in the background.

What is a perfect day in your city, town, or village?: Brunch at Joe’s Grill, Granville market in the afternoon, followed by picnic at the beach. In winter, I spend my days off playing in the snow up at Cypress or Whistler.
If someone was visiting for the first time for one day only, what must they do?: Breakfast at Medina Cafe, Macleod’s Bookstore, walk through Stanley Park, Granville Island, dinner in Gastown.
What and where is a perfect meal in the place you call home?: Joe’s Grill for brunch, there’s a couple around town, your coffee is poured before your ass hits the seat.
A little known fact about where you live?: The sand on all the beaches is imported.
