Stay Cool, A new photo book by RJ Shaughnessy

This is the story of youth, where it comes from, why its here, and how quickly it escapes us if we aren’t paying attention.

L.A. based photographer, RJ Shaughnessy was kind enough to send in a few books for a giveaway! His new book STAY COOL is set to launch later this week. This book is wonderful. Its thick pages exemplify RJ’s spontaneous, youthful, and energetic photographic style. Its really fun, and I took a few snaps to prove it (slideshow above).

Alright, here is your chance to get a free copy of Stay Cool before it is available for sale. To win this book all you have to do is leave a comment below this post for RJ. (make sure it’s associated with a real email so I know how to contact you if you win). Check out his site and let us know what you like about his work. Also if you ‘like’ this giveaway post on Facebook or RT on Twitter I will count those as additional entries. I will be giving this first copy book away to one of you on Friday, June 22nd.

(more STAY COOL giveaways the following weeks, stay tuned)

  3. Looks fantastic! I’ll end up buying this even if I don’t win a copy.

  4. More great work from RJ. Ever since I first discovered his work I have enjoyed his beautiful use of warm light and the way he captures youthful energy. Congrats on the book–looks great!

I really enjoy his work. Especially the situations in which he puts these kids in. It shows that it’s fun to be young,
and that you can get away with more.

So fun and young! Love it

  7. Stayin’ cool until I win ! ^^
    This book looks supa-great ! Finger-crossed for winning …

I love the light and the way of taking picture which remember pictures from seventies !

  8. The works looks nice. Unlike other commenters though, it makes me happy that I did NOT spend my youth this way….Everyone’s work comes out of their personal experiences so wouldn’t change mine ;-)

  9. Youth being symbolized by expressionism, in his book Stay Cool

it’s the days before oppression of society,
the moments lived without any hesitation,
the loved felt with out the casting of judgement.

Youth, the days of life lived in moments.

  10. I actually didn’t know his work but it looks amazing. Young, fresh and unique.
Would love to win a copy to review it on my blog! http://therainwillremain.blogspot.co.uk/

Truth is, as I am finding out,
is that the older I’ve gotten the younger I’ve gotten in so many ways. This work is a great remender of those earlier days.
