Beaches of Rethymnon in Crete
These photos were taken at the seaside of Rethymnon, a typical tourist town in Crete. In the winter the beach is brown and blue, the only colors around. In the summer the people who visit the seaside fill it with sound and the colors we miss during the winter.
Rethymnon’s historic center was built by the Venetians. It has a lot of influence from the Italian Renaissance, as well as Ottoman monuments. Most people come here to visit the old town and go to the beach, which is located near the city center. Loutra, a small village near Rethymnon, is the place where Louis Tikas, the leader of the miners at the Ludlow Massacre, was born.
In the winter, a perfect day would be shooting photos and meeting with friends for raki, the local alcohol drink. In the summer, it would be swimming in the sea and then enjoying a cold beer or a siesta.
My friends, the good weather, the old town, the beach, and the small villages nearby filled with good food and clean air.
Too many advertisements and too many umbrellas at the beach.
Come here to find out.
