Place you live: London, UK
Place your Instagrams were taken? Majority of shots taken in London
Can you sum up London? A melting pot of all nationalities and a fantastic blend of old and new architecture.
What is a perfect day in your spot? Any day that’s sunny. We don’t get much sun in London, but when we do it’s one of my favourite places in the world.
How long have you been using Instagram? Three years
Do you shoot with your phone or other cameras or both? I used to only ever shoot iPhone only up until last summer when I purchased my Fuji X100S. I love it and would say 99% of my work is now taken using that.
What is your editing process? I try not to go too heavy with my edits, rarely use filters and just do a few saturation/brightness/contrast tweaks using either VSCO or Snapseed. I’m a fan of the re-touch app too and often take out little bits that may be distracting.
Do you create images outside of Instagram? Yes, I work freelance as a photographer so anything I’m commissioned for.
Has Instagram/phoneography affected how you shoot? I now see things in squares! I shoot full frame as I like to have a bit of leeway when editing but I’m always taking the square crop into consideration when I take the original shot.
Can you give a couple tips to aspiring Instagram photographers? Try not to be too governed by likes and post what you like rather than what you think will be popular on Instagram. In time you’ll grow a following of people that genuinely like what you do. Other than that, have fun as that’s what will shine through in your work.
Who are your three favorite Instagrammers? @cschoonover for his portraits, @rdstaley for his candid street shots, @finn for his landscapes.
