Windy in Apopka, Florida, USA
Volunteering at the Avian Reconditioning Center is my favorite thing about Apopka, and the only thing I missed when I moved 45 minutes away. They rehab injured and orphaned birds of prey, including Bald Eagles. They also help all sorts of owls, hawks, and falcons. This picture was taken of Windy, our female bald eagle, during our fall festival, Owl Fest. She was right in front of the flag, and it was so sunny that day, it made for a striking picture.
Apopka is in Central Florida, an hour away from Disney, and two hours away from either coast. There are a lot of plants, and it was not a very exciting place to grow up.
