Gulltaggen
We caught up with Oslo based cinematographer Karl Erik Brøndbo and asked him a few questions about this amazing video.
Tell us about this video: I was asked to make the opening film of a Norwegian award show called Gulltaggen. I don’t know why, but I thought of two kids fooling around in a desert. So we went to Spain, rented a lift and props, spray painted the drum kit in a hotel room went into the desert and shot it in two days with a tiny crew.
Where was it shot? It was shot in the Tabernas Desert close to the city Almeria in the south of Spain.
What is the film history behind this place? This area has been used as a film location many times – Sergio Leone made his spaghetti westerns here with Clint Eastwood, and parts of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Conan the Barbarian, Cleopatra and Lawrence Of Arabia. The desert looks really cool and you can hire everything you need to make a western movie here – like tumbleweed, horses and old american police cars.
