Tell us about the place you live:

Don’t think of Barcelona as Spain, the cultural and economic capital of Catalonia is rich in language, customs, and landscape unique from any other part of the country it sits in or the continent for that matter. Art, food, architecture, sports, you name it and Barcelona delivers and the city along with the people have the ability of capturing the heart of many, including mine.

A perfect day?

For me the perfect day in Barcelona would start with a quick trip to one of the many open air markets (la Boqueria being the most famous) to grab a quick breakfast and lunch for later in the day. Then I’d head to one of the cities many beaches to enjoy a true mediterranean summer day. After a day of sun, food, and sangria by the water I’d head home for a siesta before cleaning up and heading to my favorite place in the city. “The Bunkers” sit just above Parc Guinardo and provide the best views of Barcelona. There’s no better place to eat, drink, and enjoy the company of friends while watching the sun set over the Mediterranean.

What is the best thing about your spot?

Unique food, culture, landscape, and people who have perfected the art of doing nothing.

What is the worst?

Pickpockets

What would be surprising about this place to an outsider?

Although Barcelona is a large city, it is densely populated and very walkable. If the weather is nice, skip the metro and see the city on foot, there’s no better way to truly learn the landscape.

Before I die I want to visit:

New Zealand, Antarctica, Tibet.

Who are three of your favorite artists?

Antoni Gaudi, Banksy, Crystal Fighters

City:Barcelona, Spain

Favorite place to eat:

La Caseta, one of the most unique and hidden dining experiences in the city.

Favorite place to drink:

Alsur Cafe, directly across from Palau de Musica Catalana in the city center.

Favorite shop:

Vincon (Psg de Gracia),

Local Tip:

For the best bars and restaurants head away from the tourist center into the barrio of Gracia. Gracia is the young, hip, and mostly inexpensive social center of Barcelona.

Must Do:

It’s the obvious answer but Sagrada Familia is spectacular, I remember the feeling that I had the first time I saw it and that feeling still hits me nearly every time I pass it. Try and find a quiet spot to just sit and take it in and also be sure to see it in multiple lights (day, dusk, night).
