Guadalajara Arches by Zinegraph in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México

The Guadalajara Arches Monument was built to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city. They were built as an entrance door to the city but with time and the city’s expansion now is located very close to the heart of the city. We like to think that cities are shaped by society and buildings are icons that represent a part of the society that established them, with this in mind we enjoy the idea that present and past societies coexist today. We as the present society are influenced by past generations and at the same time have a great input on what our city will be like in the future.

Tell us about the place you live:

Guadalajara is a city in México where the urbanism of our country’s big cities like México City and the cheerfulness and color of our small towns meet and connect. It’s full of amazing historical monuments and place as well as the most innovative technology and life style.

A perfect day?

Weekends are full of perfect days, we just hang out with family and friends go out for good food and enjoy the city. I guess we like slow motion days where you have time to do everything you like at your own rhythm. Guadalajara has many things to offer, everything from great local food like “Torta ahogada” (I could explain but it’s better for you to try it.) to fancy international restaurants. Overall the weather is lovely, constantly warm allowing you to enjoy the city and do all kinds of activities from marathons to biking.

What is the best thing about your spot?

The best thing is that Guadalajara is big enough to have many things going on; business, concerts, cultural events, concerts, among others. But at the same time is small enough to have quietness and slow motion days where you can just relax and eat a nice ice cream while sitting on a bench.

What is the worst?

The worst is that the beach is not close enough to go every weekend.

What would be surprising about this place to an outsider?

Definitely food. Guadalajara is a culinary delight. From local street food, to fancy international restaurants, it is amazing to eat here.

If your city was a person or character who would it be?

Probably Jerry from Tom and Jerry.

Who are three of your favorite artists?

Banksy, Sagmeister and Walsh, Fuzzco
