A lot of people don’t realize it, but commercial fishing was one of the industries that helped make Seattle the city it is today. It remains one of the city’s largest employers. These shots show how fishermen make a living just across the water from Seattle. If you look closely you can see the Space Needle, one of the Seattle’s classic landmarks, in the background.

The hardest thing to do in Seattle is go outside, but once you’re there the beauty is endless. It doesn’t matter if it’s raining, there is always something to enjoy: the Cascades, the Olympics, the smell of chocolate emanating from Theo’s, the soggy ground, the evergreen trees. The people here are like the outdoors. They might seem a bit cold at first but once you get to know them, you’ll never want to let them go.

Black tea at home. Croissant at Honore. A blank journal. A run to Golden Gardens or a trip to the Stevens Pass. Tango dancing. Any microbrewery.

There’s so much to do! (And I can watch the sun rise over the Cascade Mountains and set over the Olympic Mountains.)

It doesn’t actually rain as much as you think it does. It always feels like it’s ABOUT to rain. But when you go outside it’s not that bad.

My Side of the Mountain meets The Jetsons. Everyone is either a do-it-yourself hippy or a techie. Or both. At the same time.
