Imported Sand by Stuart Langfield in English Bay, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Vancouver is a city of real contradictions, in terms of weather, geography and population. In summer when it gets hot, the beaches become really popular. This photo shows the tide currently out, leaving this water slide marooned on the beach until later in the day when the waters flood back in. Vancouver is still used heavily as a commercial harbour, which can be seen from the large tankers anchored in the background.
