Director by Don Macanlalay in Discovery Park, Seattle,

Magnolia, home to Discovery Park, is the lush, green gem of Seattle. With its small lighthouse and a beach full of perfect pieces of driftwood, it is the ideal location to watch the sunset in Seattle. If the clouds align correctly with the sun, you get that vanilla sky and calm pinkish tint on the water that makes you feel like you are meant to be there.

Tell us about the place you live:

Magnolia is in the middle of the city, but it feels like it’s far away from the city. The neighborhood is tucked away on what feels like a peninsula. It’s the perfect getaway from city life, but it’s only five minutes from city life.

A perfect day?

It starts with a morning fog that engulfs large ships as they pass through the sound, followed by some local farmers’ market fair, and a picnic at Ella Bailey Park overlooking the city. The day ends with a sunset walk to the Discovery Park lighthouse.

What is the best thing about the Magnolia neighborhood?

It doesn’t feel like you’re in the city, but you are.

What is the worst?

There’s really only one bus that goes through all of Magnolia.

What would be surprising about this spot to an outsider?

How close it is to downtown Seattle.

Who are three of your favorite artists?

Andrew Gallo, Jared Hogan, Lord Huron, and Melody & Gabriela Hansen.
