Place your Instagrams were taken: Mostly Vancouver and some from recent trips to Alberta, New York, Toronto, Washington and Cuba.

Can you sum up Vancouver? Vancouver is super dynamic! It’s a city that ranges from busy and vibrant to relaxed and serene. Vancouver is also the starting point of #calmversation.

What is a perfect day in Vancouver? Ah, the perfect day would be rainy, snowy or foggy. I’d be walking somewhere near the ocean. My iPhone would remain at 100% battery regardless of how many pictures, snaps and phhhotos I took. I’d have a cappuccino in one hand and my trusty polka dotted umbrella in the other.

If Vancouver was a person or character who would it be and why? I’d say Vancouver is filled with character. You could find any one of Roger Hargreaves literary stars roaming around here.

How long have you been using Instagram? Since November 4th 2012

Do you shoot with your phone or other cameras or both? I mainly use iPhone for instagram and have started using a “camera camera” for other projects.

What is your editing process? The images I post are an essence of a moment. I edit by pushing different sliders and buttons until I get a desired calm and close to neutral effect. Apps I use most often are Snapseed, VSCO and Tadaa SLR. I dream of having one app that does it all- intuitively!

Do you create images outside of Instagram? Yes, and never has an app won me over so immediately as Steller Stories. I love that they provide such an incredible platform for creative flexibility. You choose how much or how little you share while the viewer sets their own pace in experiencing your world. It’s a much richer and more personal way to exchange moments.

Has Instagram/phoneography affected how you shoot? Indeed it has! I think the iPhone is responsible for changing the way I experience and interact with the world. It took a couple of years before I actually logged into Instagram and the size of my camera roll has never been the same.

Can you give a couple tips to aspiring Instagram photographers? If you stay true to you and follow a path that feeds your creative side then you are well on your way. Take pictures of places that fill you up with a special kind of joy and understanding. If you’re smiling when you take the photo there’s a great chance we’ll be smiling when we see the post! Also, do your best to connect on a meaningful level. The ones who let their personalities shine through comments always leave a lasting impression with me.

Who are your three favorite Instagrammers? I plead the 5th… but my page gives me away! You’ll see the ones I interact with the most. They are my favorites!
