Crowley Articulated Tug in Anacortes, Washington, USA
Moving the Crowley Articulated Tug built at Dakota Creek Industries. Dakota Creek Industries is a major shipbuilder located on a deep water port. Dakota Creek provides jobs and in 2012 received a huge contract to build a Naval Research vessel. I had the privilege of shooting there many times.
Anacortes is an old community of consists of retirees, long time residents, and families. Industry is based on boatbuilding, fishing and related services. There is a long-time Croatian community and culture. It has good schools and a hospital. It is one of the many beautiful islands of the Pacific Northwest (Fidalgo Island) and is a major ferry terminal hub to the San Juan Islands and Victoria, BC.

A perfect day in Anacortes? A Perfect Day would consist of walking the Washington Park Loop. The city is full of trails and lakes and is a beautiful location. A visitor should see Washington Park and take a ferry ride to some of our other lovely San Juan Islands.
The best thing about Anacortes? It’s beautiful views and forests and trails and the worst thing is that you can’t buy underwear anywhere in town but have to drive a half hour to obtain.
If someone were visiting what must they do? Washington Loop, catch a Ferry to some of the other San Juan Islands or take a hike on many of the local trails and view some of our many lakes. Nearby areas include visiting LaConner, driving through the beautiful Skagit Valley, driving over Deception Pass Bridge or taking the Chuckanut Drive Scenic byway.
A Perfect Meal? Breakfast or lunch at Maryann’s Kitchen on 7th street or having pancakes or Fish and Chips at the local bowling alley amongst a few others.
Your favorite place in the world? Yet to be decided as I haven’t been to enough places yet. I do enjoy visiting Vancouver, BC and Portland, Oregon amongst others.
