Place you live: Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
Can you sum up Salt Lake City? It’s a large valley surrounded by steep mountains. The northwest part of the valley opens up to the Great Salt Lake, the largest salt water lake in the Western Hemisphere. With its four seasons and diverse terrain, Salt Lake City offers a little bit of everything. BRB, going snowboarding!
For the visitor: Explore the canyons! The mountains are one of the best things about this city.
Best meal in your city: Summerhays Halibut & Chips
How long have you been using Instagram? Almost two years.
What camera phone do you use to shoot? iPhone camera and Hipstamatic.
Editing process?/What apps do you use, if any to edit your photos? I use Snapseed for most of my editing. It’s a great app for cropping, straightening and fine tuning an image. On occasion, I’ll use SpaceEffect or Halftone to add some humor to a photo. You know, sometimes a person in a candid photo needs to be wearing a space helmet.
Do you create images outside of Instagram? Yes, I’m a painter.
If so, has instagram/phoneography affected how you create images? I shoot ten times the amount of photos I used to take. This has allowed me to see and compose my environment in new ways. It’s like sketching.
Does your feed differ from your work outside of instagram? It’s definitely a departure from my paintings, but I like that. Instagram is a visual exploration of my daily life and also acts as a photo journal. My personal work is more about piecing things together to create something new.
Who are your three favorite instagrammers? @elizabeth_huey, @poshwa, and @thethriftstorecowboy is a local favorite.
