Duran Duran in Sunset Strip, Los Angeles, California
Back in ’82 Duran Duran made their first trip to L.A. to play a sold out gig at The Roxy. I met the lads at their hotel on Sunset Blvd, took a few photos of them around the pool and then carted them down the Sunset Strip. Simon spotted the old Lincoln and they piled in for the photo. A cool subject and signage is always fun.
Place you live: A little canyon in Los Angeles
Specific place your photo was taken? Sunset Strip, LA
Can you sum up your spot? A little canyon in L.A. near UCLA. Most of my neighbors are either eccentrics, professors or real estate brokers.
Tell us how your photos relate to the place you live: I like to capture L.A. in my photos. Not only is the light incredible here, but when Europe is freezing its butt off, they enjoy seeing photos from our sunny city. So its fun to incorporate palm trees, signage, blue skies in my photos.
Occupation: taking photos
Preoccupation: social media and blogging
A perfect day? Sunshine, a nice breeze and with friends visiting from Europe. They never take the city for granted.
What is the best thing about your spot? Friends from all over the world pull into L.A. for a visit. So, I do not need to travel as much as I used to. No jet lag or constipation. Just sit back and share my city with friends. I could not pull this off in San Diego.
What is the worst? Gridlock traffic on a rainy day when the president is in town.
What would be surprising about this place to an outsider? If you are coming from Europe or Japan everything seems cheap and on sale here.
A place you want to visit before you die? Venice.
Who are three of your favorite photographers right now? Sandy Kim, Ryan Foerster and Henrique Plantikow
