Lovely Bizarre in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, USA
I made this photograph in Brooklyn, New York, where I also live. Brooklyn is oozing with magic. The variety of people, trash, culture, smell; all of these are small contributing factors that aid in some greater force that keeps me obsessively observant of its beauty. I came across the structure in the photograph while walking to the subway one afternoon. Toward the outside right of the frame you can see a ladder, and to its left a figure can barely be made out. I’m not sure exactly what was going on but he was loading some sort of product into the school via the roof, tossing the boxes off as he progressed. The entire situation was bizarre and quite lovely, and because I always have my camera with me I was able to take just this one photograph before continuing into the city.
