My Neighborhood Series in Hewlett
These photos are just a sampling of what I see around my neighborhood. These are things I find interesting either because of their design, or because they haven’t changed in more than 50 years.
Retired sign painter, jewelry maker, and freelance photographer.
I love looking at art and listening to music. I can’t seem to get enough. I go to art fairs, music festivals, museums, and galleries. I’m in the street looking at art. I love Instagram, and I am obsessed with photography. I incorporate art in my life in almost everything I do and I try to get my friends and family to participate too. My children are named Dylan and Marley and thus my Instagram name is my2bobs which is a nod to my music idols.
I live on the south shore of Long Island. The town I live in is convenient to everything. It is 30 minutes to NYC by train, 20 minutes to the most beautiful beaches, and 20 minutes to JFK airport. I can hop in my car and drive to Brooklyn or Queens (two of my favorite places) in less than an hour. That said, there really isn’t much to do in my town. It’s a nice place to live with good schools and shopping, but it’s a bit on the boring side. I like to ride my bike around the harbor where all the mansions are. It’s quite beautiful and the inlets have some beautiful wildlife. Boating is very popular here. Since I don’t own a boat I don’t have the opportunity to go out on the water often.
I like when it snows and everyone goes over to the park to sled down the hill. My kids are too old now but I still go over there and bring the camera to take some photos. It brings back memeories of when my kids were babies and we did those things together.
My home. I have been living here for 25 years and raised my two children here. My house has everything I need and it’s just the right size. I love the way we decorated it.
The rude and obnoxious people who live in this neighborhood.
There is a lot of money in this town.
