Can you sum up Nashville? Creative.
What is a perfect day in Nashville? I would start my day off with a cup of coffee at Barista Parlor Golden Sound as I catch up on editing. After this I would take a bike ride through Germantown and stop at the farmers market for lunch. My afternoon would be spent hiking at Radnor Lake or Percy Priest. I would make my way to Pinewood Social or 5th & Taylor for dinner and I would end my night with a sunset on one of my favorite rooftops.
If Nashville was a person or character who would it be and why? I’m not sure I can pinpoint one character. What is beautiful about Nashville is the creativity, innovation and individual passions of each person. There is never a lack of inspiration in this city; everyone is doing something meaningful and new.
How long have you been using Instagram? I joined Instagram in 2011.
Do you shoot with your phone or other cameras or both? My feed is made up of a mix of iPhone photos and shots predominately taken with my Nikon D810.
What is your editing process? It depends on the mood I am going for. I use the VSCO Cam app for iPhone photos and for professional shots I cross between Photoshop and Lightroom where I build my own presets.
Has Instagram/phoneography affected how you shoot? I think Instagram has affected the way I shoot because it is community driven. When I shoot now, I have people in mind. I think about how my photos can spark a conversation or be an inspiration to others the way they are for me. I have become more focused on bringing people together rather than just shooting for my own benefit.
Can you give a couple tips to aspiring Instagram photographers? Go to Instameets, they are a great way to make friends with other photographers who you can work and learn from. Also, post material that is meaningful to you, even if it isn’t perfect in your eyes.
Who are your three favorite Instagrammers? @local_milk, @rvstapleton and @niravphotography
