Something for Everyone by Kyle Harris in Las Vegas

These photos portray some of the best kept secrets in Las Vegas, some of which even the locals don’t know about! Downtown Las Vegas, the drive-in theater, Gold Spike lounge, and Fremont East are all very special places to me. I love getting to show them off to visitors and to friends who have never been there before. Las Vegas is much more than the clubs, the lights and the 24/7 lifestyle. These photos prove just that.

Tell us about Las Vegas:

Las Vegas has something for everyone. Whether you’re a bachelor looking to party, a student looking to finish your education or an artist trying to find a place to show off your work, this is the place to be. The amount of connections one can make out here are endless and the places you’ll find are simply stunning.

A perfect day?

The perfect day for me is taking a stroll in downtown Las Vegas and hitting up the Beat Coffee House for an hour to surf the web or do some work. Then heading over to Gold Spike to grab a beer, play a game of giant chess or giant Jenga on the back patio and meet people from all over. Once you’ve lost a couple rounds of Jenga, you can walk over to Container Park and watch some live music, get some more drinks and enjoy the company of friends.

What is the best thing about Las Vegas?

The best thing about downtown is that it’s a community where everyone knows everyone. Downtown is often overlooked by tourists which makes it very exclusive and a lot calmer than the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas strip.

What is the worst?

The worst part about downtown is that no one knows about it!

What would be surprising about Las Vegas to an outsider?

I think people would be surprised by what’s going on downtown. Tony Hsieh and the Downtown Project have put so much money and love into this community to help make it what it is. It is quickly becoming one of the most diverse and resourceful place for start ups and entrepreneurs from all over.

If Las Vegas was a person or character who would it be?

If downtown Las Vegas was a person or character I think it would probably be Tony Hsieh.

Who are three of your favorite artists?

I am a huge fan of Shia Labeouf, despite his recent plagiarism debacle. Favorite bands would have to be Fun and Switchfoot.

Local Tip:

Ask a local what they like to do. If you do Vegas like a local, you’ll have way more fun.

Must Do:

See what you need to see on the strip, but also check out downtown Las Vegas. Take the tour of Zappo’s and check out Container Park. Go see Red Rock and try not to spend the majority of your time on Las Vegas Blvd.
