The Streets by Matt Weber in New York City, NY

New York is the biggest and best city in America, and the epicenter of “street” photography. London might not agree though.

Name:Matt Weber

Specific location your photos were taken: All over NYC

Tell us about your approach to street photography: I have always said, “I like motion and emotion.” Happy, sad, angry or deep in thought, it’s all good.

Occupation: Street photographer for 30 years

Preoccupation: Street photography

What is your perfect day in NYC? Today the weather was bright and sunny and not too hot. It doesn’t get any better than this!

What is the best thing about NYC? People watching and pizza!

What is the worst?
It used to be the crime, but now the real crime is how much everything costs. It just costs a fortune to live here!

What would be surprising about NYC to an outsider? How crowded it is and how safe it has become.

If your city was a person or character who would it be?
It might be Donald Trump. That’s why I prefer the old New York, it rolls with the punches.

Who are three of your favorite photographers right now? Mike Peters, Dave Beckerman, David Carol are the photographers I hang out with, and Robert Frank, Garry Winogrand, Walker Evans, Gene Smith and HCB are the legends.
